When taking care of your skin, you only want to use best natural skin care products. Unfortunately, it can be pretty difficult and confusing to choose the right products from the huge selection found at any store. Most health food stores carry some natural skin care products, but even there you need to know the ingredients to make a right choice. There are some companies that use the name “natural” even though they include some toxic ingredients in their products.
That’s the reason that Dr. Sears and his team of experts decided to create all natural line of skin care products, called Pure Radiance. They used only best natural ingredients that help keep your skin young, healthy and smooth looking without any chemicals or cheep fillers. Read on to learn more about what he has to offer for your skin.
If you spend a moment or two in the beauty section of a department store, you’ll probably walk away feeling totally overwhelmed by all of the lotions, potions, and serums that you’re recommended to use each day. The beauty industry is booming, and it can get pretty confusing to try to separate the good from the bad, and the safe from the toxic when it comes to your daily skin care regimen.
Fortunately, you can go back to basics when it comes to caring for your skin to see the greatest results in a smooth, fresh complexion. You see, your skin is just like any other organ in your body: living, breathing, and in need of nutrition to stay young and healthy. Just in the same way that your health would be compromised if you constantly ate junk food and never exercised, your skin can be compromised if it’s overloaded with toxic chemical ingredients. In reality, the majority of commercial beauty products are loaded full of chemical ingredients that affect the health of your skin and could even cause serious issues like skin cancer. Yes, many of these chemical ingredients are hard to pronounce and even harder to figure out what they will and won’t do for your skin.
To give you an example, a product ingredient like propylene glycol has been linked with kidney and liver abnormalities, dermatitis, and skin irritation. Sodium laurel or lauryl sulfate can cause cancer when combined with other chemical ingredients by penetrating the delicate barrier of your skin and allowing toxic ingredients in.
And don’t even get me started on parabens! Parabens are found in a wide array of over-the-counter beauty products, but they’re really bad news. In fact, on May 3, 2011, the French National Assembly voted to pass a bill that would ban the use of parabens in consumer products because they’re endocrine disruptors1.
Parabens are used as preservatives to extend the shelf life of a beauty product, but because up to 60 percent of a product is absorbed directly into the skin, parabens pose a serious risk as they’ve been linked with disrupted hormone function. A 2003 study in the United Kingdom detected parabens in 18 out of 20 breast cancer tumors, likely the result of direct product absorption affecting healthy cells.
Instead of risking exposure to a number of dangerous chemicals in your daily skin care routine, natural is best to hydrate, nourish, and rejuvenate aging skin. Cleansing daily with a protective antioxidant like red tea can minimize the appearance of wrinkles by neutralizing free-radical damage. In fact, red tea actually offers more antioxidant protection than the ever-popular beauty ingredient green tea!
A gentle cleanser like Refresh Body Wash contains protective red tea and the natural hydrating ingredient linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid that your body can’t produce on its own. These ingredients work in combination with rose hip seed oil to naturally protect your skin from sun damage for improved hydration and elasticity.
Hydration is key to keep your skin in balance and significantly reduce premature aging caused by moisture loss. Hydrating with a topical antioxidant like resveratrol can visibly improve your skin tone and reduce existing wrinkles, according to a study by Arch Personal Care Products3. Resveratrol is a powerful protective antioxidant found in red wine and can provide impressive anti-aging benefits when used topically in a rejuvenating moisturizer like Silk Cream.
The FDA strongly discourages adults from using a popular sunscreen ingredient called BHA, which should never be used on young children4.
Clearly, most topical sunblocks out there are likely to do more harm than good when it comes to protecting your skin from sun damage. Fortunately, natural, safe sun protection is still possible with an ingredient like zinc.
Zinc is a polar opposite from the majority of chemical sunblock ingredients out there in that it promotes the health of your skin instead of endangering it. Zinc physically shields the skin from UV rays, and it also naturally boosts your skin’s antioxidant defenses to protect from external free-radical damage.
A gentle, zinc-based sunblock like Solis will protect your skin without irritation with moisturizing shea butter to prevent water loss, natural glycerin for hydration, and cupuaÁu butter for powerful antioxidant protection to improve the natural balance of your skin.
Nature’s own ingredients are the best care that you can give to your delicate skin. Not only do natural ingredients provide powerful results, but they protect your skin from the risk of damage and disease caused by toxic chemicals found in many over-the counter beauty products.
Best wishes for good health and lasting beauty,
